Every year, the Fireball: Fuelling The Fire Tour holds a competition to find the best new talent in each city and this year, it was hotter than ever. Hundreds applied and after hours of deliberation, eight winners were crowned. Joining Less Than Jake, Goldfinger, Save Ferris and Thieves Of Liberty are…
WEATHERSTATE O2 ACADEMY BOURNEMOUTH: FRIDAY 27 SEPTEMBER
If you grew up adoring 90s pop-punk like Green Day and Jimmy Eat World, then you need to listen to Weatherstate. The south coast four-piece incorporate a new, venomous energy into their music and debut album, Born A Cynic is packed full of gritty gems. They’ve already slayed shows with Trash Boat, Creeper, The Dirty Nil and many more, so there’s no doubt that their set will be a well-executed display of modern day punk.
CRASHES O2 ACADEMY GLASGOW: WEDNESDAY 25 SEPTEMBER
Glasgow pop-rock band, Crashes, have already been making waves in the live circuit, having shared the stage with other rising UK acts such as Dream State and Woes, as well as drawing in crowds at their own headline shows. Their atmospheric take on pop-punk sets them apart from many bands today, incorporating their wide spectrum of influences, from Bon Iver to Deftones, to create a polished sound with subtle electronic elements and huge, anthemic choruses. Check out recent EP, Something’s Wrong to get a taste of what they’re about.
BELLE ELMORE O2 ACADEMY NEWCASTLE: TUESDAY 24 SEPTEMBER
Belle Elmore are a bunch of like-minded, music loving souls from the North East who’ve spent the past year carving their own path. Taking influence from their broad spectrum of influences, including 80s rock, metal riffs and ska bangers, they’ve created a unique and electrifying sound that instantly captures your attention. Bursting with energy and determined to have a good time, their Fireball: Fuelling The Fire Tour set will kick the night off with a bang and get you all ready and raring to go.
LIKE GIANTS O2 ACADEMY BIRMINGHAM: SATURDAY 21 SEPTEMBER
Despite having only released their debut single, ‘Cut and Run’ at the start of August, Like Giants are making quite the impact. Tackling hard-hitting topics, whilst delivering huge, aggressive pop-punk riffs, this is a band destined for great things. Their debut EP, Sovereign, is set for release in late-September, so make sure you get down early to get a taste of what’s to come from the Midlands’ rising stars.
FRANK GRIMES AND THE DISASTERS O2 ACADEMY SHEFFIELD: THURSDAY 19 SEPTEMBER
After a year-long hiatus, South Yorkshire punks, Frank Grimes and the Disasters, are back and they’re grabbing the bull by the horns and charging ahead. Releasing their second EP, Rain At Your Funeral, in September, their set on the Fireball: Fuelling The Fire Tour will give the new material its live premiere and confirm their status as Barnsley’s greatest and most miserable musical export.
THIS TIME LAST YEAR O2 ACADEMY LEEDS: FRIDAY 20 SEPTEMBER
With the release of their sophomore EP, Adolescence, This Time Last Year have become ones to watch in the UK pop-punk scene. Blending their love of old-school pop-punk, with the rawness of emo, they've created a new wave sound brimming with a vibrant energy that instantly connects with any crowd. Having spent the past year honing their live performances, there’s no doubt that these four lads are going to get the party started in style.
MILLIE MANDERS AND THE SHUTUP O2 ACADEMY BRIXTON: SATURDAY 28 SEPTEMBER
Millie Manders is not your average punk singer. Breaking down barriers and destroying the rulebook is more her style, as she welcomes in elements of pop, ska and grunge into her catalogue of outlandish anthems. Her incredible vocals are backed by a fusion of horn hooks and fierce riffs that have received praise from a multitude of names, including Radio X, Rock Sound and The Specials. Alongside her band, Millie’s continuously delivered ballsy performances that leave you desperate for more, so don’t miss out on seeing this unforgettable live collective when they roll into town.
WELL DONE YOU O2 RITZ MANCHESTER: MONDAY 23 SEPTEMBER
Well Done You is the brainchild of California-born, Manchester-raised musician, Mike Lawetto, who writes and records everything in his home studio. Releasing two EPs this summer full of high-octane indie-pop-punk in the same vein as Weezer, Yungblud and SWMRS, he’s certainly in no short supply of songs. Fully-charged, distorted guitars are accompanied by pop melodies and dangerously loud choruses that are made for chanting along to, so we reckon he’s going to get most of you screaming at the top of your lungs this Fireball season.
