With so many huge acts in and out of our doors, it’s easy to forget those that are out there, tirelessly working their way up to the top who deserve your attention. This week, we’re putting the spotlight on Glaswegian indie-rock duo, SAINT PHNX.
For Fans Of: Imagine Dragons, Arctic Monkeys, Bastille
Essential Listening: ‘One’
Despite only having five songs out in the world, Scotland’s hottest duo, SAINT PHNX have had a quite the ride so far. Formed in 2016 by Stevie and Al Jukes, their mission was simple, create a lot of noise that would turn heads and make people pay attention.
Debut single ‘Reload’ saw the band test the waters with their gritty-rock sound, the brothers had played in bands in their hometown for years and this was the first chance to spread out on their own, do what they believed in, and it worked. The track was picked up by Spotify and BBC Introducing and saw the band begin to gather interest outside of the Scottish borders.
Before long, they were being handpicked to support some of the most renowned acts on the globe. US rapper NF brought them down to London for a sold out show at Camden Assembly and Imagine Dragons thought they’d be just the right addition for their show in London too. The summer came, and with it were notable festival performances, including Boardmasters, Community and an unforgettable moment at Reading & Leeds.
The catalyst in their career though was last year’s single, ‘King’. Not many bands can say they’ve had their own Snapchat filter designed especially for a release, but SAINT PHNX can, with users across the world adorning crown filters and listening to the track, leading to it earning a whopping 12 million streams across various platforms.
The duo continue to storm their way into various streaming charts with their latest release, the infectious anthem ‘ONE’, and with a string of live dates confirmed over the next few months, it looks like 2018 is going to be one hell of a year.
