Record Store Day 2018

Record Store Day celebrates independent music stores across the UK and has become music lovers' most-anticipated day of the year. With hundreds of limited edition, special releases flying off the shelves, you better set your alarm early to grab the records on your list. However, if listening to your favourite acts on vinyl isn't enough, you'll be glad to know that they're also hitting venues near you very soon. Check out the list below.

We're also going to be running ticket giveaways with record stores all over the country, so keep your eyes peeled on your local venue's social channels on Saturday 21 April, and follow the #O2AcademyRSD hashtag, good luck!

Mallory Knox

For the first time ever, Mallory Knox are releasing an extremely limited pressing of their debut album, Signals. The splatter-print vinyl will be home to huge rock anthems such as ‘Lighthouse’ and ‘Wake Up’, which saw Mallory Knox at the forefront of the UK alternative scene upon its release.

The Pineapple Thief

Something fans of The Pineapple Thief have been asking for for years is an individual release of ‘8 Years Later’, the 40-minute ambient recording that’s only previously been found as bonus CD material. Not ones to disappoint, they’re releasing it on white vinyl this Record Store Day before they hit the road this October.

Ocean Colour Scene

More than 10 years on from its original release and Ocean Colour Scene’s number one album, Marchin’ Already is getting an exclusive, green-coloured, heavyweight vinyl pressing for Record Store Day. A hugely influential band of the 90s Britpop scene, they’ll be back on the stage this year for the legendary Star Shaped Festival.

Ahead of the release of her second album, Tell Me How You Really Feel, the Grammy-nominated indie star will release new song, ‘City Looks Pretty’ exclusively for Record Store Day. Limited to 1000 units worldwide, this exclusive, red translucent vinyl edition of Toyah’s album Desire is going to be a rare find this Record Store Day. Fortunately, she’s headlining a handful of shows this year to celebrate 40 years in the business, so you can hear all your Toyah favourites in an intimate setting.

FIDLAR

Surf-rock punks FIDLAR will be releasing their debut, self-titled album on picture disc for Record Store Day, giving us the opportunity to listen to tracks like ‘No Waves’ and ‘Cheap Beer’ all over again. The release also comes with collectible temporary tattoos, so slap them on and join the band live in July.
