Plan a 'Beautiful Day' this St. Patrick's

Posted: Thursday 2 March 2017

St. Paddy’s is happening 'With or Without You', so why not make it the 'Sweetest Thing' with us here at Academy Music Group.

U2 references aside, though, we thought we’d give you a little pot of gold, just in case you still haven't found what you're looking for... okay, okay, we're done now, scout's honour. Considering our fabulous round-up of the St. Patrick's weekend - yes, we've christened the whole weekend - there's no need to go searching the rainbow, which frees up your time to come to one of the finest events this St. Patrick’s.

Something is always going down in the capital and St. Paddy's is no exception. So let's take a peek at what we've got coming up to guarantee that you have "a whale of a time"

Friday
It’s only bloomin’ Lower Than Atlantis doing their thang at O2 Academy Brixton! Oh, did we mention that Black Star Riders are playing at O2 Forum Kentish Town? Then again, if rocking and rolling isn't really your scene, why not dip your toe into either I Love The 90's vs I Love The 00's  or even our St. Patrick's Day House Party throwback party at O2 Academy Islington.

Saturday
It's officially (one day after) St. Patrick's Day, so let loose 'Wild One' - ha, we didn't make any promises about Thin Lizzy references, now did we? We can only hope the bands come kitted out in gloriously green attire tonight - we're looking at you, Audiowhore. See them live at O2 Academy Brixton while State Champs take to the stage at O2 Forum Kentish Town, with As It Is and Northbound in the support slots. Indie rockers Inhaler, will be playing O2 Academy Islington and to celebrate with Poland's finest, head to Morliny Cooltura Festival 2017 at O2 Shepherd's Bush Empire. If you fancy a club night, it's definitely worth going down to Burn Down The Disco at O2 Academy Islington for a jig or two or, in true Fromage style, go and dominate the dancefloor in your greenest green for the Club De Fromage - St Patrick’s Day Shindig!

People of the North, you have no excuse not to get "wrecked" this St. Paddy's - you know, with you being the closest to Ireland and all (kind of). Perhaps that only seems logical to us. Either way, let's see what you've got going on.

Friday
We're calling all students for Medication at Liverpool's Arts Club or you could catch the semi-final of Liverpool Rocks at O2 Academy Liverpool. Glaswegians, experience country singer Charlie Worsham live or see the French behemoths, Gojira at O2 ABC Glasgow. Want to experience one of the most influential British bands live? Yes? Pop down and see The Stranglers at O2 Academy Leeds while reggae legends, The Wailers take the stage at O2 Academy Sheffield. Also, if power ballads are your thing, who are we to deny you Manchester? Join Ultimate Power at O2 Ritz Manchester and if you find yourself in Newcastle, come down to the biggest Friday night student night, a.k.a Dirty Pop at O2 Academy Newcastle.

Saturday
We've got a spectacular northern night planned for St. Paddy's. If you're in Liverpool, why not see electronic pioneers Sean Tyas and John Askew play at We Are You Music or pop down to Black Parade – 00's Emo Anthems at Arts Club Liverpool. Of course, there's also the option to see the titanic All Time Low at the Mountford Hall, Liverpool Guild of Students or watch the Amy Winehouse Experience at O2 Academy Liverpool. Glasgow - boy, do you have options! If a club night is what you need, a club night you shall have. Come on down to Propaganda or see great, blues-rock bands, we're talking about Broken Witt Rebels and Bad Touch. There's also Love Music so I guess you could say it's all going down at O2 ABC Glasgow. Enjoy a jaw-dropping club night with PROJEKT or go for An Evening with Peter Hook and The Light at O2 Academy Leeds, while indie rockers, Circa Waves, perform live at O2 Academy Sheffield. Newcastle, PROJEKT heads your way as well, or experience rock band One Man Revival live - both at O2 Academy Newcastle.

Although the celebrations may be "like hen's teeth" down south, we can pretty much guarantee that the events we do have going on, are well worth going to.

Friday
With a treasure trove of music recorded over the last decade, why wouldn't you catch Quantic Live with Alice Russell or pop down to Ramshackle in O2 Academy Bristol.

Saturday
Do some good with your St. Paddy's weekend by coming over to Vantage Boxing in Aid of Julia's House in O2 Academy Bournemouth. Oxford, The Dirty Hit Tour is coming your way or catch the rock band, Half Man Half Biscuit at O2 Academy Oxford.

Wowzers, festivities are definitely not in short supply. The only issue here, is that the weekend isn't longer.

Friday
Birmingham, you've got a whole catalogue to choose from for your Friday night shenanigans. See either Kioko, Monster TruckState ChampsPlini or Scott Bradlee's Postmodern Jukebox at O2 Academy Birmingham. What's that? You're up for a club night? No problem, we've got you covered with Propaganda. If you're spending your weekend in Leicester, catch The Amy Winehouse Experience at The Scholar or Johnny & The Good Time Boys and The Paradimes at O2 Academy Leicester.

Saturday
Again, so many choices if you're in Birmingham. Celebrate the weekend with either The Record Company, Sweden's Black Star Riders, Polish rock band, IRADave Hause and The Mermaid, Jump The Shark or The Stranglers at O2 Academy Birmingham. FINALLY we have reggae legends, The Wailers and they are heading over to O2 Academy Leicester!

Admittedly, our Irish phrases may need some work, but planning a banging St. Patrick's requires none of it. In fact, we've almost made it too easy, but "go way outta that" we've enjoyed it. All that's left to say now, is have a happy St. Paddy's and be safe. Let us know what you've got planned by commenting below.
