New Music Blog: Chapter & Verse and Wars

Posted: Monday 4 September 2017

With so many huge bands in and out of our doors, it’s easy to forget those bands that are out there, tirelessly working their way up to the top who deserve your attention. This month, we’re putting the spotlight on two alternative bands, Chapter & Verse and Wars.

Wars are a UK metal band from the midlands, whose debut album We Are Islands, After All combines the blistering vocals of frontman Rob Vicars with pummelling breakdowns and a fury that bites hard. With support from BBC Radio 1’s Daniel P Carter and a history of chaotic live shows, they’re a band who still have so much more to give.

Within twelve months as a band, Chapter & Verse sold out their debut headline show, have toured across the UK countless times and released their debut EP The Wolves Back Home to high praise. Taking their alternative sound and giving it a unique spin, with distinctive vocals and math-rock riffs, this is the sound of a band ready to make their mark on the scene.

If you want to catch both bands live, they’re playing a co-headline show at O2 Academy Oxford on 15 September. They’ll also be joined by tech-metal outfit Perception and local metalcore band Lest We Forget.
