With so many huge acts in and out of our doors, it’s easy to forget those that are out there, tirelessly working their way up to the top who deserve your attention. This month, we’re putting the spotlight on soul sensation, Tom Grennan.
Tom surprisingly wasn’t all that interested in music growing up and it wasn’t until he sung to some friends at a party that he realised that actually, this is what he was meant to be doing with his life. With a deliciously smooth and soulful voice, Tom has been stunning people with his vocal abilities ever since that night.
After a tragic incident, which left him with metal plates in his jaw, Tom finally started putting pen to paper and used music as an escape from his pain. Taking influence from the likes of Ray Charles, Jamie T and Amy Winehouse, he poured his heart and soul into writing songs and it was debut single ‘Something In The Water’ that kick started his career.
With things starting to pick up, it was a collaboration with drum & bass duo Chase & Status that really launched Tom into the spotlight. ‘All Goes Wrong’ became a certified smash and landed Tom a spot on the BBC Sound of 2017 longlist. From there, things have only got bigger and better. Releasing two EPs this year alone and playing headline shows to ever-growing crowds, it’s likely that 2018 is going to be the year where Tom Grennan becomes a megastar.
